Entrepreneurial Postdocs of Cambridge

 

This time, we'll be hosting Ryan Bethencourt from IndieBio. Ryan is a Cambridge alumnus, entrepreneur, and program director and venture partner at Indie Bio, an SOSV-funded accelerator.

Indie Bio, based in Silicon Valley, is the world's first startup accelerator and early stage seed fund for biotech/life sciences and is funded by SOSV, the accelerator VC. They fund companies that span all life science sectors - including food, agriculture, healthcare, neurotech, biomaterials, therapeutics, and more.Their notable alums include Memphis Meats, Koniku, SyntheX, Ava Labs, Qidni, New Wave Foods, and MycoWorks.

Ryan was formerly head of life sciences at the XPRIZE foundation a co-founder and CEO of Berkeley Biolabs, a biotech accelerator and Halpin Neurosciences, an ALS therapeutics-focused biotech company. He co-founded Counter Culture Labs, a citizen science nonprofit, and Sudo Room, a hacker space based in downtown Oakland, California.

He'll be giving us a summary of what they're doing over in Indie Bio and what it takes to turn an idea to a biotech business in just a couple of months.
